How do you turn a simple premise into a fantastic action-adventure game? Let’s say the premise is a boy and girl fall in love and wish to marry. So apart from the romance, how can you insert action, thrill, compassion, and bravery? And make it extremely engaging?
Well, change the boy and girl into a prince and princess respectively. Add the nostalgia of a period drama. Use castles as the backdrop for the action. Throw in a dash of intrigue at the royal court. Make the prince overcome a variety of challenges. And you get the super exciting game The Legend of Vraz.
The protagonist is the chivalrous, lion-hearted Prince Vraz who wishes to win the heart of his lady love, the hauntingly beautiful Princess Avi. The princess loves the prince too. So what’s the catch?
Well, the prince must complete a full set of challenges in order to prove he really deserves the hand of the princess. And the challenges are actually life-threatening adventures, where the prince must not only display bravery but also the ability to make split-second decisions and act fast.
On the face of it, the adventures appear just like the ones in other free action games. These adventures include finding a diamond-studded heart (a symbol of true love that lasts forever, like diamonds) finding a special sword (a testimony to the courage of the spirit), a unique horse (which stands for strength and power). However, it’s the detailing and the imagery that makes The Legend of Vraz irresistible.
During each of these adventures, the prince has to fight enemies of different kinds and skill levels. For instance, there’s the Vizier of Kund. The Vizier is trying to kill the prince for multiple reasons, one of them being the Vizier is also smitten by the lovely Princess Avi. And of course, there’s the treacherous design to usurp the kingdom!
Importantly, even in recent times, some Indian action games don’t show originality. In contrast, the fresh, crispy style used by The Legend of Vraz is both promising and heart-warming.
The usage of traditional Indian miniature painting style to form the canvas of the entire game makes the visual appeal strong and impressive. The game is spread over 15 different levels. Each level carries its own unique characteristics and dangers. The prince must navigate through the perils and pitfalls of 4 different worlds while trying to beat one adversary after the other.
You’ve probably noticed that most action-oriented free action games involved a lot of violence. But with The Legend of Vraz, you’re in for a surprise. For all its adventure and thrill and action quotient, there’s no violence.
On the contrary, even though the game is a high-octane action game, it convincingly manages to put across the message of compassion and bravery without going over the top. As you play the game, you’ll be both surprised and thrilled with the way the action unfolds – it’d be unfair to give any more details!
